Change Needed

The Montana archery season is here, so why am I not more excited? Maybe excited isn’t the right word choice, either. I talk and think about hunting year-round. I love going through my gear and looking at maps. Planning out locations and applying for tags all contain a certain level of anticipation. Walking outside when the morning temps start to dip, and knowing fall is here. All of which are occurring right now.

So, what is going on with me?

I have put off so much. It’s almost two weeks into the season, and I haven’t been in the field once. Excuses keep finding their way into my reasoning for not being out. Not drawing any tags hasn’t helped either. So, the plan is to head back to areas where we have been the past couple of years. The same area where I have not been in range of an elk yet. It feels like it’s hanging over my head.

I’m ready for a change. My plans are in place to head out next week. I need this to go the right way. The right way is still up to be determined…
